Science Truck is a television programme designed exclusively for YouTube. It is a Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology [Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología, FECYT] initiative. FECYT is a Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities [Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades] body. Science Truck emerged as a travelling programme offering themed episodes on science. It aims to kindle a passion for science among students at schools across the country. The programme combines television quality with the ‘YouTube narrative’.
A team of more than 20 professionals and significant technical means were used to produce Science Truck to achieve the goal FECYT set for it: encouraging critical thinking through scientific education, shown from a very different point of view, in a highly audiovisual format, using the same language that students at schools across the country use to communicate with one another.
The first season’s results are in: 69,100 views on the FECYT Ciencia YouTube channel. An average of 7,700 viewers per programme have chosen science over ignorance. For the second season, the project now has its own YouTube channel.
In 2020, the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge [Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico] launched BioDirectos, a series of online meetings broadcast live and simultaneously on the different social media channels of the Fundación Biodiversidad [Spanish biodiversity foundation]. The aim of these meetings is to raise awareness of the important role biodiversity plays in human health, and to address a variety of issues related to the opportunities offered by green reconstruction following the global crisis triggered by COVID-19.
EL CHIRINGUITO INSIDE
El Chiringuito Inside is a YouTube-native format. This channel is home to everything that you don’t see on El Chiringuito: live broadcasts, challenges, reactions, FIFA and more, along with a large number of videos starring Josep Pedrerol’s team. El Chiringuito Inside has more than 600,000 subscribers and its videos have surpassed 1.5 million viewers. It’s now a classic a format for fans of the king of sports, and is a leader among sports channels on social media.
Formula E is a single-seater electric vehicle racing category organised by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), created to serve as a laboratory for research and development on electrical vehicles, to promote them and to accelerate their popularity. It also serves as a showcase for innovations and development in a context that combines technology and sport. This FIA-backed project is led by a team of Spanish entrepreneurs who, from London, have created a revolutionary motor racing championship: electric cars racing on city streets.
